User Research

Through looking at the User Pain Points and User Needs in App Store Reviews, I redesigned The Bouqs Co. app.

USER PAIN POINTS

  • Difficulty reviewing past purchases

  • Difficulty managing subscriptions/ orders

  • Difficulty with Account Tab

    • Account tab does not actually function, it’s only for opting in/ out of selling personal information

  • Difficulty ordering products through account

  • Difficulty viewing order history, checking status of recent orders

USER NEEDS

  • Provide more functionality than web page/ mobile site

  • Easily place orders through account

  • Easily manage subscription and account info

  • Transparency on current/ recent orders

  • Easily see previous orders

The Challenge

How can I make it easier for users to place orders and manage their accounts?

Specific Features based on User Pain Points & User needs

See Previous Order Details

With one orders tab, users can easily toggle between upcoming orders and previous order information. Users can see each order in full detail - delivery details, gift and recipient details, and payment information. Users also have the option to place the same order again.

Transparency on Current/ Recent Orders

In App store reviews, users have asked for transparency in the order/ fulfillment process. With this feature, users can easily see upcoming order details with the option to track the stages of an order currently in process. This feature will also let users know if there is a delay in the process, so they can be aware of any setbacks in each specific order (this happens sometimes, but it’s best to be transparent with customers!)

Manage Subscription

Users have asked for the ability to manage subscriptions and see account information through the app. With this feature, Users can see the expected date of next delivery, their current subscription, and also have the option to change their subscription, see other subscription options, and skip or cancel their subscription.

The Take Away

This project taught me a lot about designing to user needs and pain points. I learned what types of features users are looking for in an app compared to a website or mobile site and more specifically, what problems The Bouqs Company customers are having with the current app. Through looking at App Store reviews (both negative and positive), I was able to determine which features to adjust and add, and which features to keep. I believe I redesigned the app in a way that addresses the user pain points and user needs while also keeping the company’s mission and branding.
